{"id":30982,"date":"2020-09-30T11:17:05","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T18:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/?p=30982"},"modified":"2020-09-30T15:10:30","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T22:10:30","slug":"obama-v-trump-who-gets-the-credit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/obama-v-trump-who-gets-the-credit\/","title":{"rendered":"OBAMA V TRUMP  WHO GETS THE CREDIT?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The below article was originally written in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>I originally did an update in <strong><em>November of 2018<\/em><\/strong> and now <strong><em>Sept 30th 2020<\/em><\/strong>, another slight update.\u00a0 The advent of Trump\u2019s economic success, combined with Obama telling the world that this economic boom is the result of his policies, the ensuing total shut downs due to Covid 19, I feel it\u2019s important to understand not so much \u201cwho gets credit\u201d, but rather what happened, why, and what the numbers really mean.\u00a0 Without, at least, a rudimentary understanding of what actually occurred, we have no way to understand what policies actually promoted our economic interests\u2026. i.e. what creates jobs and what doesn\u2019t.\u00a0 Many won\u2019t like the implications of what follows\u2026 but facts are always facts.\u00a0 GOOD POLICY CREATES GOOD RESULTS&#8230; BAD POLICIES?\u00a0 Not so much.<\/p>\n<p>WHAT A RECOVERY REALLY LOOKS LIKE-<br \/>\nIt\u2019s more than <em>unemployment<\/em> numbers.<br \/>\nOn the economic front alone here are just some of the data from the first two years of Trump&#8217;s first term.<br \/>\nWas it really Trump? or is Obama right in saying his policies were responsible for all of this?<br \/>\n<span id=\"more-531\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">*\u00a0 250,000 new jobs in October, in spite of the Hurricane.<br \/>\n*\u00a0 *Realize, 70k of those new jobs* are in mining, construction, manufacturing\u2026 The very same jobs OBAMA said were\u00a0<em>never<\/em>\u00a0coming back!\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/DuhXkCF-L2E?t=34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Obama \u201cJobs not coming back\u201d<\/a><br \/>\n*\u00a0 3.1% actual wage growth. The best number in a DECADE!<br \/>\n*\u00a0 Highest job participation rate in history\u2026 Most jobs in HISTORY, and that\u2019s good for everyone because it means more taxpayers, more government revenue, less government payouts and soon lower deficits.<br \/>\n* Remember, Obama said 2% GDP is the new normal and he\u00a0<strong><em>never<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>even brought the economy to 3%.. The first such failure of any president in history!\u00a0\u00a0<strong><em>How can Obama try to take credit for all of this when he actually said none of it would never happen again??<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>On the other hand\u2026 Trump has given us\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0 The last two GDP reports were 4.2 and 3.5 after the OBAMA administration said 2% was the new normal\u2026\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/ydy2fa2g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2% The New Normal<\/a><br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Lowest Black unemployment rate in history<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Lowest Hispanic unemployment rate in history.<br \/>\n<em>And this was accomplished in less than two years\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HOW DID ALL THIS HAPPEN?\u00a0 The Same Way Reagan did it\u2026<strong><br \/>\nTrump implemented business friendly, job creating policies- it\u2019s that simple;<\/strong><br \/>\n*\u00a0 Deregulated, taking off some of the handcuffs of American industry, allowing them innovate again.<\/li>\n<li>*\u00a0 Lowered personal income taxes putting money back in our pockets that we can spend?\n<ul>\n<li>Realize, virtually every dime we spend is a \u201ctaxable event\u201d the gives the government more revenue\u2026\n<ul>\n<li>i.e. buy ice cream it\u2019s income to the store;<\/li>\n<li>buy a computer, it\u2019s more income to the store\u2026<\/li>\n<li>When they get more business they earn more, can hire more and the government takes in more revenue with every purchase!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>*\u00a0 Yes, it also put money back in our employer\u2019s pockets too\u2026\n<ul>\n<li>in some cases it means we got a raise\u2026<\/li>\n<li>in others it means our bosses hire new employees to meet the demand\u2026<\/li>\n<li>sometimes it just means that our\u00a0<em><strong>bosses can stay in business so we can keep our jobs!*<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>*\u00a0 He allowed overseas money to come back in the US at a lower rate, bringing in more government revenues and capital for new jobs.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0* Lowered Corporate rates so that operating in the US, was not as expensive, so many corporations no longer felt the need to leave and in many cases corporations returned and new corporations decided to come to the US\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>THAT\u2019S WHERE ALL THOSE JOBS ARE COMING FROM?<\/p>\n<p><strong>I want to acknowledge that all politicians lie.\u00a0 Even the ones I like.<br \/>\nI am not a big fan of Trump personally\u2026 he is not perfect, Far From It!\u2026<br \/>\n<\/strong>But a lie is always a lie and the truth is always the truth\u2026\u00a0<em>No matter who speaks it.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>OBAMA<\/strong>&#8211; I loved to listen to Obama speak\u2026 he is an incredible orator.\u00a0 However, he has constantly touted as good policy, that which was not and is even now taking credit for good results that he did not cause.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TRUMP<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0 In many regards, I believe he is a very flawed man. But like him or hate him, from the beginning, his policies were doing what they are supposed to do.\u00a0 Create jobs and protect our citizens and our country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOW TO THE PURPOSE OF THIS UPDATE:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Under Obama the unemployment rate had been continually dropping and the liberal media and Obama\u00a0<em>did nothing but talk about what a magnificent impact his policies were having.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0Most people believed it was a good thing because they did not understand what they numbers really meant\u2026 and of course, the media had not desire to rain on Obama\u2019s parade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>What happened?\u00a0 FACTS OF THE OBAMA \u201cRECOVERY\u201d and why it matters.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #b00505;\">The original article from Sept 2012<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><em>The Unemployment rate went\u00a0down.\u00a0 Was that really Good News? \u00a0Absolutely not!<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 It dropped from 8.1%; this has to be a good thing doesn\u2019t it? \u00a0 \u00a0<em>No! \u00a0It\u2019s more smoke and mirrors.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0Whether someone is a democrat or republican, if truth matters,\u00a0<strong><em>they need to understand this the reality.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>TIME TO CLEAR THE SMOKE AND LOOK AT THE FACTS!\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fact<\/strong>\u2013 For every person that found work, 4 lost hope and stopped looking.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fact<\/strong>\u2013 This is now 43 straight months of 8% plus unemployment, the longest\u00a0stretch\u00a0ever recorded!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fact<\/strong>\u2013 We are now experiencing the worst recovery in history. \u00a0<strong>Yes, in spite of the great and inspiring speeches, this is a fact.<\/strong>\u00a0(details to follow).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fact<\/strong>\u2013 This \u201cdrop\u201d in unemployment, actually marks the\u00a0<em>lowest\u00a0overall\u00a0job participation rate in 38 years..<\/em>.\u00a0<strong><em>and for men, the lowest in history!\u2026<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and that includes the tragedy of the Great Depression!\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nShould a Lower Unemployment by itself Equal Another Term?<\/strong><br \/>\nObama used the drop in unemployment to make his case for another term. And he knows better. He knows the real numbers and he knows what they mean (<em>they will be explained below<\/em>). He is not a stupid man. Rather, he is a man who has shown that he will do and say anything to keep power. He is using the new misleading unemployment numbers to fool America\u2026\u00a0<em>He fooled us once, let\u2019s not let it happen again.\u00a0Please, let\u2019s stop this!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>THE NUMBERS THAT LIE\u2013\u00a0<strong>Lower unemployment\u2026 that\u2019s good\u2026 right?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe unemployment rate dropped from 8.3 to 8.1. Normally you would think that\u2019s a step in the right direction. \u00a0Well, this time it just isn\u2019t. This is one of those rare times that a drop in unemployment is not just a bad thing\u2026\u00a0<em>it\u2019s heartbreaking!<\/em>\u2026\u00a0<strong><em>and our president is telling us we are on the right track?\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b00505;\"><strong>WHY IN OBAMA&#8217;S ECONOMY, LOWER UNEMPLOYMENT WAS WORSE<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Job Participation Rate-<\/strong>\u00a0 We all know that if <em>50,000 people get a job, the unemployment number goes down<\/em>.\u00a0<em>But what happens when 50,000 people get so discouraged that they drop out of the job market; i.e. they give up?<\/em>\u00a0<em><strong>The unemployment rate still goes down!\u00a0 That was the Key to Obama&#8217;s low &#8220;unemployment&#8221; rate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And that is exactly what just happened\u2026<\/em>\u00a0only worse, much worse!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are the actual numbers\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0In August-\u00a0not 50,000, but a staggering\u00a0<strong>368,000 people just stopped looking!<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Our fellow Americans simply dropped out of the workforce.\u00a0<em>We now have the lowest job participation rate in a generation and for men the lowest EVER. \u00a0<strong>It\u2019s even worse than the Great Depression!<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0That is a fact! \u00a0 Did Obama forget to tell you that? \u00a0Must have slipped his mind.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #b00505;\">The lowest Job participation, ever!\u2026<\/span>\u00a0<\/em><em>And Obama was bragging that the unemployment rate went down???<\/em>\u00a0 He was using the fact that <em>368,000 Americans, your neighbors, your friends, our children; all lost hope,<\/em> they became so discouraged that they gave up\u2026\u00a0<strong><em> their loss and despair was used as EVIDENCE that he deserved another term???<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Oh, but there is a bright spot<\/strong><br \/>\nIn August 96,000 jobs were created. Great! But our economy requires about 130,000 to 150,000 just to keep up with population growth. It\u2019s certainly better than nothing, but anything less and we are moving backwards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNDERSTANDING UNEMPLOYMENT- How to get 0% unemployment?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe unemployment number is a bit counterintuitive. It has\u00a0<em>little<\/em>\u00a0to do with the number of people actually working, but rather\u00a0<em>focuses on those actually\u00a0<strong>looking<\/strong>\u00a0for a job.<\/em>\u00a0If you stop looking, you are no longer considered \u201cunemployed\u201d. Consequently, a lower unemployment rate\u00a0<em>does not<\/em>\u00a0mean more people have jobs.<em>\u00a0It simply means that fewer people are willing to look.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>An extreme, but easily understandable example of the unemployment numbers:<\/strong><br \/>\nAssume the entire potential work force became discouraged with their current job and future prospects for worthwhile employment. \u00a0They\u2019re discourage and the all quit. \u00a0They stopped or didn\u2019t even bother looking for work\u2026 Obviously, under this scenario no one would have a job and no one would ever consider it a thriving economy\u2026\u00a0<em>But what would the unemployment rate be?\u00a0<strong>ZERO!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If the above actually happened, I wonder, would the Obama campaign proclaim that he is the greatest president in history?\u00a0<strong>After all, for the first time in our history we would have achieved ZERO unemployment!<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0That would be analytically identical to what he is doing now.<\/p>\n<p>The Obama Campaign was telling us unemployment dropped from 8.3% to 8.1% and that it <strong><em>proves<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0the economy is improving under his leadership, that we\u2019re going in the right direction, we just need more time to complete the job. What a croc. \u00a0<em>The only thing this \u201cimprovement\u201d proves is that we have millions of people who have lost all hope.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Fact-<\/strong>\u00a0if the people who had\u00a0become so discouraged that they stopped even\u00a0looking were factored into calculations, the\u00a0unemployment rate would be\u00a011.1 percent!\u2026\u00a0and they are trying to tell us we\u2019ve turned a corner?\u00a0 Which corner would that be, Mr. President?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Here are the bare factual numbers:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Since January of 09-\u00a0<strong>240,000 fewer people are working<\/strong>\u00a0today than when he took office.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<strong>Just last month\u00a0368,000\u00a0gave up hope<\/strong>\u00a0and stopped even looking for employment\u00a0<strong><em>in the last month alone<\/em><\/strong>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<em><strong>3,500,000<\/strong>\u00a0are no longer even counted in the unemployment numbers<\/em>\u00a0(they dropped out).<br \/>\n\u2022 Per Capita Median Income-\u00a0<strong>Down $4,000.<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 46.7 Million Americans on Food Stamps.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<strong>Real Unemployment<\/strong>\u00a0Rate- 11% +<br \/>\n\u2022 Unemployed and Underemployed\u00a0<strong>14.7%<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Want a Job? You get one from a business\u2014<em>business startups are down 30% this last year.<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022<strong>\u00a0Labor force participation-<\/strong>\u00a0the percentage of people have jobs or are at least looking work has fallen to\u00a0<em><strong>63.5%<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of the population! This puts the labor force at its lowest in 38 years and<em><strong>\u00a0the lowest in history for men.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0This is worse than the great depression.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<strong>National Debt over 16 TRILLION DOLLARS!<\/strong>\u00a0If government spending \u201cstimulus\u201d actually worked, shouldn\u2019t we be in a bit better economic shape?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b00505;\"><strong>But don\u2019t worry. Obama said he is going to put us back to work! \u00a0<\/strong><em>He had a plan\u2026 the problem is that his plan was to do more of what has already proven not to work!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>A SIMPLE FACT\u2026 GOVERNMENT CAN\u2019T GIVE, WHAT IT DIDN\u2019T\u00a0<em>FIRST<\/em>\u00a0TAKE!<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<em><strong>We can never forget that for the government to \u201cgive\u201d it to me, it must first take it from you!<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0This is a fact- \u00a0\u201cThe government can do nothing nor give anything\u2026 that it didn\u2019t first take from someone else\u201c. \u00a0<a title=\"taxes\" href=\"http:\/\/wp.me\/p2EGlL-1k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">See Economics 101<\/a>\u00a0The government plays a never ending game of Robin Hood; take from the rich and give to the poor.\u00a0<em>\u00a0I\u2019m sure many people were surprised to find out they were rich! \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>We built this country, our businesses and our lives\u2026<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and it is now being weakened by poisonous economic policies. It is only through our character and our strength that we are recovering. It is the essence of what our country is and who our people are that allows us to survive and even grow under these horrendous even \u00a0oppressive conditions.\u00a0<em>But no matter how great this nation is and our people are, there is only so much we can endure. We are fast approaching that limit. \u00a0<strong>This must stop.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although our president wants the credit, , I want to make something very clear; \u00a0What little growth the economy is experiencing, the resilience we are demonstrating\u2026\u00a0<strong><em>is not<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0because of what Obama and his administration has done<strong><em>\u00a0for us<\/em><\/strong>\u2026<em>\u00a0it is\u00a0<strong>in spite<\/strong>\u00a0of what they have<strong>\u00a0done\u00a0to\u00a0us!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>BUT HE SURE GIVES AN INSPIRING SPEECH!-\u00a0<\/strong><em>and a pretty good athlete.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\nObama has shown himself to be all about style and little substance. Great speeches, soaring rhetoric; an inspiration to us all\u2026 and I mean that. He is truly gifted.\u00a0But as president, at some point, you actually have to\u00a0<em>do something other vacation and play hoops or golf.<\/em>\u00a0You have to deal with the most pressing problems of the country.\u00a0Passing Obama Care\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0it. \u00a0<em>JOBS WAS and STILL IS!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Our health care system has issues. But how could that have been the priority? \u00a0I could be wrong, but I think, if given a choice, most families would prefer a home, a job and\u00a0<em>no insurance, over<\/em>\u00a0no job, no money, no home but \u00a0having a insurance\u2026 \u00a0but I could be wrong?<\/p>\n<p>JOBS COUNSEL TO THE RESCUE<br \/>\n<strong><em>But he did do something. He created his jobs counsel.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0A great idea that again rekindled hope. It impressed the masses and showed that he cared, he was on a roll! \u00a0The problem is, in the end, it proved to be nothing other than more style;<em>\u00a0just more act in the show.<\/em>\u00a0What did he accomplish with this big idea, this counsel?\u00a0<strong><em>Nothing<\/em><\/strong>, he rarely meets with them and even more rarely, pays attention to them. They make suggestions,\u00a0<em>he ignores them<\/em>. Problems and potential real life solutions don\u2019t seem to matter<em>\u00a0if they don\u2019t comport with his world view\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>One recommendation was to\u00a0<em>lower corporate Tax rates<\/em>\u2013\u00a0<strong>Ours are the highest in the world<\/strong>\u2014No wonder they move factories overseas! The immediate benefits of lowing these taxes are obvious, but will Obama do it?. Of course, not. In spite of the evidence of our country\u2019s history and the economic history of the world, he seems to hold to the belief that high taxes are the solution to everything rather than an incipient pervasive problem. \u00a0<em><strong>Taxes Are Not the Solution!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The fact is there is only so much we can tax, and there is\u00a0absolutely no mathematical\u00a0<em>possibility<\/em>\u00a0that taxes can fix our problems\u2026\u00a0<em>but it sure makes for good class warfare.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"the reality of taxes\" href=\"http:\/\/wp.me\/p2EGlL-7v\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">See the Reality of Taxes.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>THOSE DARN CORPORATIONS- It\u2019s all their fault!<\/strong><br \/>\nHe rants about our companies going overseas, but he doesn\u2019t mention the fact that corporate boards have a<em>\u00a0legal<\/em>\u00a0<em>fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of their shareholders<\/em>\u00a0i.e. the investors, the retirees that depend on corporate dividends. \u00a0Failure to do so subjects them to legal liabilities and loss of\u00a0<em>their<\/em>\u00a0jobs! \u00a0<strong><em>As long as our tax policies make it more beneficial for corporations to go overseas, they have a legal obligation to do so!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Instead of blaming others for the natural result of his policies, why not just do the obvious? \u00a0What would you do if in India you made a dollar and kept 90 cents, but if you make that same dollar in the US you keep only 70 cents?\u00a0<strong>You\u2019d do what the corporations do. You\u2019d move your company to India.<\/strong>\u00a0It only makes sense. You have an obligation to keep your income for your family and charity; not give it to an inefficient government.\u00a0<strong><em>The heads of corporations, the stock holders of corporations, they have families, charities, churches, organizations that depend on them too. \u00a0And yes\u2026 corporations are people!<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Any economist will tell you this is how it works,\u00a0<em><strong>high taxes cost jobs.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0There are no exceptions. But it doesn\u2019t matter. His actions belie a big government at all costs philosophy and he lets nothing get in the way of its pursuit, not even reality.\u00a0<strong><em>Is it any wonder that this is the worst recovery in the history of this country? That\u2019s not hype, its fact!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>THE WORST RECOVERY IN HISTORY<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong><em>This is the single worst\u00a0recovery\u00a0in the history of our country.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0The numbers don\u2019t lie. I wish I could say the same for our government. \u00a0The\u00a0abysmal\u00a0economic realities hit us in the face every moment of every day. \u00a0Even if WE have jobs, even if we\u2019re fine, many of our friends and families are not\u2026 and if they are, they wonder, for how long?\u2026 \u00a0We see it everywhere. It\u2019s as obvious as the air we breathe. \u00a0<strong><em>This is not the American I want to bequeath to my children!\u2026\u00a0but that is where this path of taxation, spending and bloated pervasive government leads. \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"the limits of government\" href=\"https:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/is-government-the-answer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">See Is Government the Answer?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>THE HEIGHT OF ABSURDITY<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nIn spite of the obvious,\u00a0<strong><em>the Obama campaign has actually made the absurd assertion that Obama has created more jobs than Reagan!<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0He continually states we are moving in the right direction, that he just needs more time to complete the job.\u00a0<em>This is demonstrably untrue!<\/em><em><strong>\u00a0It\u2019s either denial, ignorance or another lie. Exactly how stupid they think we are?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b00505;\"><strong>HERE ARE THE\u00a0<em>FACTS<\/em>\u2013 you decide.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWe do not play number games with this information. We actually bend over backwards in an attempt to be generous to Obama. \u00a0We calculate\u00a0comparative\u00a0numbers during the recovery portion of each administration. We avoid including the time periods, in which,the respective economies were still hemorrhaging.\u00a0<em>Doing the latter would be even less flattering to Obama.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2022<strong>\u00a0The Obama recovery<\/strong>, it\u2019s now encompassing a period of about 31 months and has resulted in the creation of\u00a06,317,000 net new jobs, or approximately\u00a0<strong>203,800 jobs per month<\/strong>. But that\u2019s only one side of the equation.
