{"id":375,"date":"2012-07-12T06:39:50","date_gmt":"2012-07-12T13:39:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/?p=375"},"modified":"2012-08-03T16:49:22","modified_gmt":"2012-08-03T23:49:22","slug":"is-success-worth-the-cost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/is-success-worth-the-cost\/","title":{"rendered":"Success&#8230; Is It Worth It?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was recently asked to name just one thing that made success worth it from my perspective in the last 30 days of my life.\u00a0 It was a thought provoking question&#8230; so here are my thoughts\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>Success is <em><strong>always worth it.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 You reap it&#8217;s benefits every moment of every day of your life&#8230; <em><strong>As long as you properly <span style=\"color: #800000;\">define<\/span> success.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If one defines success in only monetary terms, <em>it becomes and objective that can destroy them and everything they hold dear. <\/em><br \/>\nIt all depends on what we mean by success.\u00a0 Success is different a completely different animal depending on who you ask, when you ask, what their current situation is and their stage of life at the time of the question.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>My personal definition of success today, is <em><strong>DRAMATICALLY<\/strong><\/em> different than what it was 20 years ago. For a fuller personal perspective see the article <a href=\"https:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/what-is-success\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/what-is-success\/<\/a><br \/>\nA successful marriage, happy family, and good friends are all important and the rewards we reap are obvious. A successful business brings a different type of reward, one of them being that it &#8220;helps&#8221; with the others.<\/p>\n<p>*The wife is happier if I can take the family out to dinner more often.<br \/>\n*My 10 year old son likes that I can take him to see the newest spider man movie :-),<br \/>\n*My friends like it if I can occassionally pick up the tab :-)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>However, anyone that works so hard to achieve financial success that they destroy a successful family <em>IS AN ABSOLUTE FOOL AND ABJECT FAILURE!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to have money to be happy or successful. Some of the happiest days of my existence were when the limits of my wealth were such that I could occassionally eat at a Mexican restaurant. I played my guitar in clubs at night and I rode my bike on the river trails during the day. <em>I don&#8217;t care what anyone says&#8230; <span style=\"color: #800000;\">I WAS SUCCESSFUL!<\/span> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Real success <em>IS NOT ABOUT MONEY.<\/em> It&#8217;s about creating a balance that lets you live the life you choose.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All the MONEY in the world is useless if you don&#8217;t have the time to enjoy it.<br \/>\nAll the TIME in the world is useless if you don&#8217;t have the money to enjoy it. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>It&#8217;s about BALANCE.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When I speak of success, I&#8217;m rarely specically referencing money;<strong> <em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">I&#8217;m really referring to achieving the things that we feel are important<\/span>.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 It varies for each of us&#8230; that&#8217;s what success is.<\/p>\n<p>And no matter what your definition of success is, there are <em>always <\/em>set backs, it always requires focusing on the objective, consistent effort, overcoming battles,\u00a0etc&#8230;\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>Whether your goal is a happy <strong>wife<\/strong> or a <strong>fat wallet<\/strong> the traits and principles that are required to achieve them are often the same.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">So, to the Question What has &#8220;monetary&#8221; success given me in the last 30 days that made it worth it?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The ability to\u00a0spend quality time with my family, basking around the\u00a0pool, camping in the RV, minimizing the stress that financial pressures create, etc&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">It shouldn&#8217;t be this way<\/span> <\/strong><\/em>but we all know that financial stress is at the root of many\u00a0family problems.<\/p>\n<p>My whole life I\u00a0have believed that if you love each other, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>money shouldn&#8217;t matter<\/em><\/span>.
