As I’ve stressed, I am not a partisan republican. \u00a0I support good policy and truth. \u00a0I don’t care where it comes from. \u00a0I actually agree with many of Obama’s actual positions and policies. \u00a0However, the points of agreement are dwarfed by the almost\u00a0innumerable\u00a0lies and half truths that I simply feel disqualify him for office.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Following are about 100 flat out lies. \u00a0Unfortunately, more will be added… almost daily.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most of what follows are short comments regarding misstatements and policy. \u00a0However, a few are of such a magnitude with underlying complexity that they required in-depth details. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>– Energy\u2014what about oil.\u00a0 He states that under his administration drilling and production has never been higher.<\/span>
\nFact<\/strong><\/span>– Virtually, every time he had the opportunity to stop drilling in the US offshore, he killed it.\u00a0 Virtually, every drop of production is the direct result of Bush policies opening up markets and fields.\u00a0 The only reason they weren\u2019t shut down is that it was not politically expedient to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>– Obama has had the lowest rate of increase in spending since World War II.<\/span>
\nTruth<\/strong><\/span>– He speaks of lowering the budget but the facts are that, in spite of the actual gargantuan budgets that he signed, in every case he actually had asked for more!<\/span><\/em>\u00a0 As to the \u201cslow\u201d rate of growth, although technically accurate, it is again, smoke.\u00a0 When stated as a percentage of growth from one year to the next, it\u2019s almost true<\/em>\u00a0not<\/strong> <\/em>because of any restraint, but rather because he actually made the historically high budgets created by the \u201cstimulus\u201d package the new \u201cbaseline\u201d.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Example<\/strong><\/span>:
\nIf last year\u2019s budget was $1,000 and this year I spent $1.500, I increased the budget 50% but actually only spent an additional $500 dollars.\u00a0 Probably not anything that will bankrupt me.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, if last year the budget was 1\u00a0Trillion Dollars<\/em>\u00a0and this year I spent 1.3 Trillion Dollars, I actually lowered the rate of growth\u2026 yea!\u00a0 But I just spent an additional THREE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS!\u00a0 This is the kind of numbers game (half truths) that Obama is playing.<\/span>
\nFor those that want to wade through the data see\u2026<\/span>\u00a0http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2012\/05\/25\/wapo-three-pinocchios-to-wh-over-their-defense-of-obama-spending\/<\/a><\/p>\n

How does an economist trying see it?<\/em>\u00a0 They look to the percentage of increase in government spending to Gross Domestic Product (GDP<\/strong>).<\/span>
\nIn FY2008, federal spending equaled 20.8% of GDP<\/strong>.\u00a0 In FY2009, it jumped to 25.4% \u2014\u00a0an increase of 22%<\/strong><\/em><\/span>\u00a0in the rate of spending.\u00a0 In the post-war era, federal spending as a percentage of the U.S. economy has hovered around 20 percent, give or take a couple of percentage points. Under Obama, it has hit highs not seen since the end of World War II \u2014 completely the opposite of the point asserted by the administration.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Obama can spin the numbers any way he wants but in what world can any rational human being oversee and sign into law the most staggering deficits in the history of the world, borrow forty cents of every dollar spent,<\/em> <\/span><\/strong>while at the same time bragging that he has slowed the rate of government spending?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>
\n Republicans want to kill Medicare and that Obama<\/strong> <\/em>would never<\/em> turn Medicare into a voucher system.<\/span>
\n Truth<\/strong><\/span>–<\/span>
\n Less than 24 hours after making that statement it was announced that a pilot program would be implemented with what?… what that appears to be a voucher plan. \u00a0Great, he may be doing the right thing\u2026 and I will never have a problem with that. \u00a0What I object to is hypocrisy and lies.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Killing Medicare?<\/span>– The only person to hurt Medicare has been Obama and the Democrats. \u00a0They will spin and lie but the fact is that they took $716 Billion dollars from Medicare to fund Obama care. \u00a0They say they didn\u2019t. \u00a0Guess what, surprise surprise\u2026 they are lying, again. \u00a0They took it, it\u2019s a fact. \u00a0The goal is to subsume Medicare and everything else into what is sure to be another bloated inefficient government program, Obama Care.<\/span> \u00a0How\u2019s the DMV and post office working for you? \u00a0Do you really think the government can run Medicare?… the entire healthcare system? \u00a0They know this. \u00a0That\u2019s why this past week of 9-10-12 the department of health and human services is starting a pilot program to do exactly what the Romney\/Ryan plan would do! \u00a0Amazing! \u00a0On one hand they allege that Ryan will destroy Medicare on the other, they consider implementing their plan. \u00a0Is there a more striking example of the lies and hypocrisy of this administration? \u00a0Obama is not about truth, facts or what\u2019s right or wrong\u2026 he is about re-election and power.<\/span>
\n Truth<\/span><\/strong>–<\/span>
\n If something isn\u2019t done, Medicare will cease to exist for anyone.<\/span> \u00a0That is another fact. \u00a0The Ryan plan proposes that NO ONE who is currently on it, have anything change. \u00a0Nothing! \u00a0It also proposes that anyone that will soon be going on will have NOTHING change. \u00a0Those, for which, there will be a change will have options. \u00a0They will have a system in which they control the money, they decide which policy to purchase. \u00a0It injects competition into the system and we all know that competition always creates innovation and lowers costs. \u00a0To anyone that doesn\u2019t like this idea (although, I see no reason not to), by rejecting it and doing NOTHING which is the Democratic plan, Medicare will die\u2026 for everyone. your medicare coverage will change. \u00a0It will cease to exist.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>
\n Romney when he left the office of governor of Mass, it was 47th in jobs creation.<\/span>
\n Truth<\/span><\/strong>–\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0when he took over from a liberal administration, Mass was 50th, when he left it was 28th. A huge improvement. What was the difference? Conservative policies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>
\n Liberal policies are good for economics and job creation?<\/span>
\n Truth<\/strong><\/span>– Take a look around the country. The states that are most quickly heading off a financial cliff are the ones with the most liberal administrations<\/em><\/span>. California, NY, etc\u2026 The states with the most job growth are those with republican governors\u2026 Ohio, Virginia, Texas\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/span> If liberal policies did anything other than create bloated government\u2026 if liberal policies were good for the economy and for sustained job creation, California and New York would be beacons of economic strength rather than leaning towards bankruptcy.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>–<\/span>
\n The country\u2019s moving in the right direction.<\/span>
\n Truth<\/span><\/strong>– The number of people on food stamps has increased by 50% since Obama took office. It can only be considered that we are going in the right direction, if we are headed towards Greece;<\/span> if the right direction is more and more of our citizens relying on government handouts rather than personal initiative. Unfortunately, it appears that is actually the goal. The fact is the more people that rely on the government for support, the more votes the democrats can count on.<\/em><\/span> The Obama administration recently actually started advertising to get more people to get on food stamps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>– The Obama Campaign is telling us unemployment dropped from 8.3% to 8.1% and that it\u00a0proves<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0the economy is improving<\/span> under his leadership, that we\u2019re going in the right direction, we just need more time to complete the job. What a croc. \u00a0The only thing this “improvement” proves is that we have millions of people who have lost all hope.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/span>
\nFact-<\/strong>\u00a0if the people who had\u00a0become so discouraged that they stopped even\u00a0looking were factored into the calculations, the\u00a0unemployment rate would be\u00a011.1 percent!…\u00a0and they are trying to tell us we’ve turned a corner?\u00a0 Which corner would that be, Mr. President?<\/p>\n

Here are the bare factual numbers:<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022 Since January of 2009-\u00a0240,000 fewer people are working<\/strong>\u00a0today than when he took office.
\n\u2022\u00a0Just last month\u00a0368,000\u00a0gave up hope<\/strong>\u00a0and stopped even looking for employment\u00a0in the last month alone<\/em><\/strong>.
\n\u2022\u00a03,500,000<\/strong>\u00a0are no longer even counted in the unemployment numbers<\/em>\u00a0(they dropped out).
\n\u2022 Per Capita Median Income-\u00a0Down $4,000.<\/strong>
\n\u2022 46.7 Million Americans on Food Stamps.
\n\u2022\u00a0Real Unemployment<\/strong>\u00a0Rate- 11% +
\n\u2022 Unemployed and Underemployed\u00a014.7%<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Want a Job? You get one from a business\u2014business startups are down 30% this last year.<\/em><\/span>
\n\u2022\u00a0Labor force participation<\/strong>\u00a0the percentage of people have jobs or are at least looking work has fallen to\u00a063.5%<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of the population! This puts the labor force at its lowest in 38 years and\u00a0the lowest in history for men.<\/span><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0This is worse than the great depression.<\/span>
\n\u2022\u00a0National Debt over 16 TRILLION DOLLARS!<\/strong>\u00a0If government spending “stimulus” actually worked, shouldn’t we be in a bit better economic shape?<\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>–<\/span>
\n Obama inherited the worst economic crisis since the great depression.<\/span>
\n Truth<\/strong><\/span>– Ronald Reagan inherited a much worse situation.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\n Interest rates of 18% and prime rate peaking at 21.5%<\/span>
\n Inflation of 13.5%<\/span>
\n Unemployment on an incredible upward spiral i.e. May of 1979 it was 5.6% and by May of 1980 7.5%<\/span>
\n Under Carter the poverty rate soared by 33% from 1978 to 1980 (when Reagan took office).<\/span>
\n When Reagan took office, not only was it bad, it was getting worse, quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Reagan prescription?<\/strong><\/span>
\n Cut taxes<\/span>
\n Reduce Spending<\/span>
\n Deregulation, including elimination of price controls on oil and gas. <\/span>This allowed markets and competition to determine prices, rather than our \u201call knowing bureaucrats\u201d.<\/span><\/em> As with Obama, he inherited a problem, a big one. Big issues\u00a0aren’t\u00a0solved overnight. Not by Reagan and not by Obama. But if policies are on the right course, the economy will follow.<\/strong><\/span> Compare the policies and results of Obama and Reagan.<\/span>
\n We already know Obama\u2019s results. What were the results of Reagan\u2019s heartless \u201cradical policies\u201d?<\/span>
\n \u2022 Because of de-regulation, consumers saved an estimated 100 billion per year in lower prices. Production soared and the price of oil declined by approximately 50%<\/span>
\n \u2022 Nearly 20 million new jobs were created.<\/span>
\n \u2022 Employment dropped to 5.3%.<\/span>
\n \u2022 By this time in Reagan\u2019s presidency, economic growth was almost 6.8%, almost 6 times what we are getting under Obama!<\/em><\/span><\/span>
\n President Obama has chosen to EXACTLY the opposite of what has been proven to create economic growth.<\/strong><\/span> Is it any surprise that we are getting EXACTLY the opposite results? Is it possible that Obama is more in love with his quasi-socialistic ideology than the American ideal? Is he more concerned about equality of result rather than equality of opportunity? I can\u2019t get in his head, but generally actions reveal more of who we are and what we think, than do speeches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lie<\/strong><\/span>–<\/span>
\n Conservative policies caused this mess and it would be irresponsible to repeat them. He states that we need more government intervention and rules to protect the public.<\/span>
\n Truth<\/strong><\/span>– that is a simple lie.<\/span>
\n Because the truth won\u2019t fit on a bumper sticker, it\u2019s rarely discussed. But for anyone who cares, what follows is a brief synopsis of what really happened.<\/em><\/strong><\/span>
\n Government involvement and liberal policies and regulation played an enormous part in our economic collapse<\/span>. Specifically, the Community Reinvestment Act<\/strong>, overseen by Clinton in 1995. A noble goal but this was instrumental in the ultimate financial collapse. The fact is that governmental regulations incentivized, if not actually, required<\/em><\/strong> lenders to make loans that they otherwise would have never made. These policies were with the intent of making home ownership a possibility for all. A noble cause, of which, I generally agree. But as with so many things that government does, it was not well thought out and the law of unintended consequences was never taken into account.<\/span>
\n A simple question-<\/strong> <\/span>would you loan someone $100,000 if you knew you\u2019d probably never get it back? Of course, not\u2026 neither would our lenders, but they did… every day. \u00a0Why? \u00a0It was done in furtherance of a government objective, combined with governmental guarantees again loss, (ultimately backed by our tax dollars),and penalties for non cooperation. \u00a0Ill advised loans were made every day that would never have been made in a free market absent government influence and pressure.<\/span><\/p>\n

The fact is that both liberal and conservative politicians gave broad support to these policies.<\/em><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH<\/strong><\/span>
\nBush and the Republicans tried to fix it. \u00a0However, 2 years prior to the crash, it became obvious there was a looming problem on the horizon. Remember, at this time, democrats had control of the house and<\/em> <\/strong>the senate. Consequently, conservatives could actually force nothing. Bush and conservatives began taking about the coming problem, trying to alert the public, drafted legislation to try to stem the tide of the coming storm. It was brought to a vote on the house. The fact is the democrats blocked it.<\/span><\/em> It was a straight party line vote. All republicans voted to do something\u2026 Every democrat voted no; to do nothing!<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Not only did they bury their heads in the sand, they went to the normal liberal political playbook\u2026 the republicans were labeled as racists and unresponsive to the needs of the poor.<\/em> <\/strong><\/span>So what\u2019s new?<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, when it finally became apparent even to the media that there might be a problem, Barney Frank Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee,<\/strong><\/span> when asked about the situation (asserted to the world, everything\u2019s fine). Well, it wasn\u2019t and he knew it\u2026 just one more lie from our politicians. \u00a0(see the “between Bill O’reilly and Frank on Youtube re this situation)<\/span>
\n
