{"id":566,"date":"2012-09-07T09:08:45","date_gmt":"2012-09-07T16:08:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/?p=566"},"modified":"2012-09-12T13:27:06","modified_gmt":"2012-09-12T20:27:06","slug":"i-see-the-future-and-it-looks-like-greece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/i-see-the-future-and-it-looks-like-greece\/","title":{"rendered":"I See the Future&#8230; and it looks like Greece."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>A LOOK INTO OUR FUTURE- GREECE?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> If our government doesn\u2019t get spending under control, <strong><em>this country will fail.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Many of our politicians are burying their heads in the sand, <strong><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">but they all know the US is heading over a financial cliff.<\/span><\/em><\/strong> \u00a0If we don&#8217;t make a change, the country we hand over to our children and grandchildren will be but a shadow of what our parents gave us. Proving this fact requires about <em><strong>5 minutes<\/strong><\/em> of objective thought. All we have to do is look at Greece. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>Where they <strong>are<\/strong>, is inexorably where we are <strong>headed<\/strong>. <strong>We have to change direction, NOW.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">All the Great Speeches of History<\/span>&#8211; <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>will not\u00a0<\/em><em>cure us. Like heroin, they make us feel good for a while, the next day, all the problems remain, but now we also deal with withdrawal!<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Only Real Solutions Solve Real Problems<\/span>&#8211;<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u00a0Much like\u00a0a bitter medicine. It\u2019s unappealing, it tastes bad, we <\/em><\/span><em><strong>don\u2019t<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u00a0<strong>want\u00a0<\/strong>to take it\u2026 but if we do, we get better,\u00a0if we don\u2019t, we get worse, maybe even die! \u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>It&#8217;s time to take our medicine!<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The government of Greece,\u00a0<em>as has ours,\u00a0<\/em>forgot, a simple truth. <span style=\"color: #d70925;\"><em><strong>Government gives nothing to anyone without first taking it from someone else.<\/strong><\/em><\/span> It can\u2019t give to me, unless it took from you, your family or your friends. It can\u2019t <em>give<\/em> to you unless it took from me, my family, your family and friends.<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em> Eventually, there is <strong>nothing left to take<\/strong> so no more to give. The inevitable result is chaos!&#8230;\u00a0<!--more--><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The government\u2019s desire to \u201c<em>give<\/em>\u201d has now become so out of control, that in order to give to you or me, it doesn&#8217;t just have to take from my neighbor as in the past&#8230;<strong><em> it now has \u00a0to take from your children, my children and yes even our grandchildren!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> There is only so much that can be taken. When there\u2019s nothing left the party is over and the \u201cgoodies\u201d stop. Free government \u201cgifts\u201d are every bit as addictive as heroin. I agree with the fair share part. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>But what is a Fair Share?<\/em><\/span> The reality is that if the feds took 100% of all the income from the rich (defined as 250.000 per year), the government would still be well over $500,000,00 in the hole.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em><strong>What this proves is that the government, this country does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Any politician who says otherwise is lying.<\/strong><\/span> That is a simple fact!<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> It\u2019s simple\u2026 the more the government \u201cgives\u201d, the more it has to take from someone else.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>WANT TO START A RIOT? <\/strong><em>Just take away the freebies<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> As the government \u201c<em><strong>gives<\/strong><\/em>\u201d more and more, there is less and less left from citizens for the government to take. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>There comes a point, at which, it is impossible to take or tax more.<\/em><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> As people receive these government \u201cgifts\u201d, whether in the form of cash or other benefits, they come to depend on them, expect them, plan their lives around them&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><em><strong> these benefits become internalized as \u201crights\u201d that belong to them.<\/strong><\/em><\/span> This not meant as an insult. It is just how every member of the human race is built; including myself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">No matter how much we want our government to \u201cgive\u201d; to take care of everyone, to allow help everyone to live a carefree life, free of the stresses of poverty,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><strong> there comes a point where the \u201crich\u201d don\u2019t have enough to sustain the financially unsound \u201cdeals\u201d the bureaucrats made with the people and the unions.<\/strong><\/em><\/span> Like it or not, that is a simple mathematical fact and when it happens things must change. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>It&#8217;s better to start that change when it can be done without draconian cuts. \u00a0<\/strong><\/span>The longer the change is delayed, the more deeply the inevitable cuts hurt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What happens when you wait too long&#8230; and <em>then<\/em> they are taken away? \u00a0Look at our Greece\u2026 If we don\u2019t pull our heads out, this will be us\u2026 much sooner than you think.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Greece in 2010- It came to a head.<\/strong> The government had nothing left to give. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>Instead of understanding the economic and mathematical realities, the people felt they were being robbed.<\/em><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NaaHx2doD94\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> But there\u2019s been plenty of time to fix it? This is Greece,now. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Once this chaos starts and spreads, it is difficult to stop. \u00a0<strong><em>We still have time, but we have to act now!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nm5th5ThgB4\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> For anyone that thinks this can\u2019t happen in the US, just remember <\/span><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cOccupy Wall Street\u201d<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. \u00a0To anyone with open eyes, the\u00a0beginnings\u00a0of the chaos can be seen.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZIt5Vr1w4aQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> There is a tipping point, at which, turning back is all but impossible. We are getting close to that. Once this ball is set in motion, it won\u2019t stop\u2026 a least, not until it crashes. That is the lesson of history. \u00a0It is the lesson of Greece and Europe that is unfolding before our very eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>WHO IS TO BLAME?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>This is not the fault of the people.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><em>This is the fault of the leaders that promise anything and everything to get elected.<\/em> <\/strong><\/span>They make irresponsible decisions in order to guarantee the continuation of their power and careers. <em>They pass destructive legislation with about as much concern as a dealer selling heroin. <strong>It might feel good but it in the end, it will kill us.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small; color: #993300;\"><strong> Government entitlements are every bit as addictive as heroin. And like heroin when gone, the withdrawal will destroy us.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is true, not only of government checks consisting of welfare or social security, but also of benefits that government employees receive as a result of collective bargaining agreements. <em>The point <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>is not<\/strong> <\/span>that government entitlements are bad.<\/em> They aren\u2019t; they are a vital part of the social safety net that makes American great. <em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">But even they must be managed in a fiscally sound manner\u2026 not just in a way that guarantees votes.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-size: small;\"><strong>A Looming, Long Term Problem<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> As with Greece, we know that, at this moment, one of the biggest financial burdens our cities, states and counties are currently facing is their inability to fulfill their part of the \u201cbargains\u201d they made with public employees. i.e. teachers, police, firefighters, etc\u2026<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">When the unions overreach and the \u201cgovernment\u201d (<em>It\u2019s you and me that pays for these contracts<\/em>), enters into unwise, unsustainable deals (<strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em>which they always do, since it gets votes and costs them nothing<\/em><\/span><\/strong>), the government is eventually forced to renege on some of the concessions they made. \u00a0Why should anyone be surprised? \u00a0They were impossible deals in the first place. \u00a0When this happens, it is not really a case of the big omnipotent government choosing to abuse the defenseless government employee. Nor is it simply a case of government versus the unions or employees; <strong><em>Then what is it?<\/em><\/strong> It is a case of the unions and government employees against non government employees i.e. tax payers. In other words,<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #993300; text-decoration: underline;\"> it\u2019s government unions against us<\/span>.<\/strong><\/em><\/span> As everything else, it&#8217;s not the mayor who has to pay, it&#8217;s not the government bureaucrats; whether they realize it or not, they are not trying to reach into government coffers to get what they deserve\u2026 they are reaching into <em>our<\/em> pockets. \u00a0Tax payer pockets are just about empty!<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> http:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/the-reality-of-taxation\/<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> http:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/tax-the-rich\/<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">OUR LEADERS MADE BAD BARGAINS\u2026 AND THEY KNEW IT\u2026<\/span><\/strong> <strong>BUT WHY NOT? <span style=\"color: #000080;\">They didn\u2019t have to pay for it\u2026 We did!<\/span><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>What did it cost our political leaders? NOTHING! It insured big campaign contributions and personal re-election&#8230; and by the time the piper had to be paid?<\/em><\/span>\u00a0 They were enjoying their own, wonderful retirement benefit package! <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em><strong>Are we really going to let them do it again?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>WHAT TO DO?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em> If the government can\u2019t afford the wages and benefits that are being paid, there are really only two fundamental choices&#8230;. <strong>Cut the Spending or Increase taxes.<\/strong><\/em><\/span> The emotions and controversy that such situations create may be great and terribly controversial, <em><strong>but it is always that simple choice<\/strong><\/em>. Cut spending or raise our taxes.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> When those \u201crights\u201d and entitlements are cut or taken away, (even when it is because there is no choice, there is no more money, nothing left to take from those that are paying for these \u201crights\u201d, chaos ensues. \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><em>If the government does not fulfill, even an impossible obligation, they feel that \u201ctheir\u201d property is being taken, their rights are being violate, just as if they are being robbed.<\/em><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">and it&#8217;s not the individuals fault, it is the fault of dishonest, power hungry politicians that will do and say anything to get or keep power. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><em>BUT GUESS WHAT, IT WAS US THAT VOTED FOR THEM! \u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">We can&#8217;t do that again.<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<strong><em>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a title=\"Lies of Obama\" href=\"https:\/\/allsolutionsnetwork.org\/blog\/obamas-lies-half-truths-broken-promises-and-failed-policies\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">See Political Lies.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/em><\/strong> \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: small;\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">But regardless of how we may feel, no matter what the cause, \u00a0No person, entity or government can forever spend more than it takes in.<\/span> It is a simple mathematical impossibility; to continue to so, inevitably leads to financial collapse.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>IT\u2019S UP TO US<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> For the sake of our country, our children, our grandchildren, we must start voting for those that have the courage to admit there\u2019s a problem and are willing to stick their neck out to talk about the real issues and ultimately to do something about it&#8230; even if there is political risk. \u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>That is not what we got last time.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800000; font-size: medium;\"><strong>A great speech<\/strong><\/span> <em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">makes us feel better.<\/span><\/em> But like heroin, the next day, all the problems remain, but now we also go through withdrawal!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; font-size: medium; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Real solutions<\/strong><\/span><\/span> <em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">are a lot like a bitter medicine<\/span><\/em>.
